Nine-Chambered Felted Sculpture by Rae Gold
From the artist: This is a nine chambered felted sculpture that I made in response to the shooting. There are eleven triangles to honor the victims, two are made as Jewish stars for the brothers and the married couple who perished. I used nine chambers for the interior to signify Chai, Hope. Hope for all of us for a better future where we will all be free and happy.
As a fiber-artist, I made my living creating wearable art for 25 years. For the past seven years I have been able to make three dimensional felted sculptures. It is a most satisfying medium taking what looks like fluff, adding soap, water and your hands to make something that will stand on its own.
