About the artist:
Yafa Negrete was born on November 10th 1981 in Mexico City.
In 2006 she got her bacherlor’s degree in Graphic Designer at the La Salle University.
She worked at the Colegio Israelita de Mexico from 2008 to 2012 as a graphic designer, photographer, and painted some murals and scenographies.
From 2012 to 2016 she worked in the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Santa Fe, as a graphic designer and portrait drawing workshop teacher.
In 2016 her husband and older girl relocated to Pittsburgh Pennsilvania, because her husband was accepted to do a PhD at Carnegie Mellon University.
Right now she’s at the third semester of the Masters in Interdisciplinary Design at Chatham University and she keeps drawing on her free time.
She’s been doing volunteer graphic design for Carnegie Mellon University, La Leche League, Chabad of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library, Pittsburgh Current Newspaper, among others.
In September 2020 she was selected to receive the scholarship from the Program for Foreign Studies from the Mexican National Fund for Arts and Culture to become a full time student at Chatham University.
